Ouedo, Benin

Picture
In 2015, Well Water Global completed construction on a sealed pump well in partnership with ICA Benin, a local NGO.

Ouedo is a village with 2 previous wells over 50 years old that are dead-in-the-ground. The residents have had to gather unsanitary water from a long distance. This new well is equipped with a generator to help facilitate a large distribution of safe water to the entire community.

In order to ensure the sustainability of the well, a monitoring committee of five village members has been created to work with ICA Benin on maintenance and up-keep.

From this well, we have connected pipes to distribute water to a local primary school 1/4 mile from the well. Previously, the 240 children that attend this school went 8 hours a day, every day, without any water at all. This will probably be the only clean water they receive all day. (see video below)
